How long are we willing to leave children out of decisions that shape their lives?

At CRIA, we work with children, not just for them, to ensure their lived experiences meaningfully shape public dialogue, policy, and research.

Because participation is a right, not a reward.

About Us

At CRIA, we believe children are not just beneficiaries of rights; they are co-creators of change.

We bring together children, young people, and adults as equal partners in research, dialogue, and decision-making to reimagine the systems that shape childhood.

Through intergenerational collaboration, CRIA builds platforms where children’s lived experiences guide the design of inclusive policies and practices.

Our work spans:

  • Long-term participatory research on child participation

  • Cross-cultural networks and exchanges

  • A seven-day international forum that brings together children and adults from across the world for shared learning, dialogue, and collective action.

By integrating child-led inquiry into global conversations, we aim to break systemic barriers and build a world where children are heard, respected, and trusted.

Child Rights in Action (CRIA) is a global initiative committed to advancing meaningful and structured participation of children in shaping the policies, systems, and decisions that affect their lives.

MISSION

To create intergenerational spaces where children and adults come together as partners to:

  • Conduct collaborative research that reflects children’s lived realities.

  • Influence policy and practice through sustained dialogue and evidence.

  • Reimagine systems through co-design and shared leadership.

A world where children are recognized as whole individuals, respected as knowledge-holders, trusted as decision-makers, and included as co-creators of the systems that shape their lives.

We envision just, inclusive, and participatory societies where the voices, dreams, and lived experiences of children guide collective action at every level.

Our Pillars

CRIA’s approach rests on three interconnected pillars.

Together, they form a living ecosystem of research, dialogue, and transformation.

Intergenerational Collaboration

We create spaces where children and adults from varied disciplines work as equals, designing structures and programs through mutual trust, creativity, and shared leadership.

Participatory Research & Frameworks
Community-Rooted, Globally Connected

Change begins in local realities. We bridge grassroots voices and global platforms, ensuring that children’s contributions shape decisions across the street and across borders.

CRIA functions as a living participatory lab; co-developing tools, models, and research methodologies with children. We generate insights that reflect real experiences and influence real systems.

Our Programs

The key objective of CRIA is to elevate the participation of children in decision-making and advocacy processes through integrated research, policy engagement, and the biannual forum. CRIA focuses on creating a space for children to be empowered as co-creators of the systems and structures that affect them.

Forum

The aim is to create an international, intergenerational space where children and adults co-lead dialogue, experiential learning, and collective design to advance meaningful child participation.

The forum bridges lived experience, research, and policy to reimagine the systems that shape children’s lives.

Research

The goal is to explore how systems of governance, policy, and socio-cultural norms across diverse contexts enable or restrict meaningful child participation.

Also, to co-create, through inter-generational collaboration, new frameworks that center children’s representation, agency, and voice.
